Mountain Hike Monday - Hiking the Flood Wall with Canine Adventures
On Saturday we signed up to participate in the approximately 5 mile beginner hike with Canine Adventures.
We met up with the other humans and their fur-children behind the Suntrust building in Richmond.
Happy faces all around ready for an adventure!
And, off we went to explore the flood wall in downtown Richmond...
The walk was at a leisurely pace with plenty of time to stop when needed...
And, take in the scenery...
And, it was amazing...
We took time to chat with other humans and enjoy the view...
Of course I was always the one pulling up the rear because I had to stop constantly to take pictures!
I had never been on this trail before and Dynamo wanted me to see the City from a different perspective.
Yes, we went underneath all those bridges we drive over...
Talk about feeling oh so small!
The views were nothing short of amazing...
You would never know all this beauty existed unless someone showed you! I didn't!
The grasses in the water were a beautiful golden color...
We literally walked on top of the flood wall.
And, saw the railroad bridge from a whole different angle! Wow!
We stopped on occasion for a water break...
We snapped more pics...
Even the taller dogs could see the view from their level...
And, then continued on...
We ventured onto the Richmond Slave Trail...
And, ultimately walked right underneath Interstate 95...
It was beautiful right there along the river. A hidden passage...
At the end of the 2.5 miles we took a break before retracing our steps back!
Charlie was still excited!
Lucky for us he didn't see the strange mushrooms!
It really is easy to see why Richmond was voted best Outdoor City!
Just breathtaking!
Back at the car we had completed just shy of 5 miles! Water was shared!
Everyone felt refreshed!
Fun times all around!
If you ever get the chance to explore the flood wall go for it! It's stunning! And, what wonderful tour guides we had with Canine Adventures! Thanks Rebecca and Andrew!
