Dreamwork's Maiden Voyage

On March 10, we celebrated our 8 year wedding anniversary and 11 year together anniversary. We were in Florida visiting Dynamo's parents for the week, but we are now back in town and picked up our anniversary present. It's a Cannondale Tandem 29er.

DW2

For years I've been asking Dynamo for a tandem bike so we can do some rides truly together, and finally he surprised me with one. I was so surprised that I started to cry. At first I just couldn't fathom how I deserved such goodness. I just couldn't believe it. What a huge blessing God gave me and us. Dynamo continues to shower me with so much love and kindness truly exemplifying God's love. Once I stopped crying I remembered what Joel Osteen says about learning to accept God's blessings and favor and how we deserve goodness. That is part of our journey here. We have to accept goodness. And, we have to have grace for ourselves.

DW4

Not only has God given me the most wonderful man in the world, but He also continually blesses us with all that we need and more. As I reflect on our years together and us taking our first ride yesterday, I am reminded of just how similar riding a tandem is to trusting God. When we ride the tandem, Dynamo is the captain, which means he rides in the front. He is stronger and makes all of the decisions. When to stop. When to start. When to stand. When to shift. Where to steer. EVERYTHING. My job is to be the stoker in the back. I just sit down and pedal. That's it. All I can see is what's on either side of me and his cute backside and I have no idea where we are going. I have to have complete trust. Trust in my captain and partner. Do you find that sometimes you struggle to have complete trust in your captain? I think most of us do. It's about learning to grown in our faith and ourselves. And, it ain't always easy!

DW1

Marriage, too, is much like riding a tandem. You just have to trust one another. Sometimes one of you will need to be the captain using all of your strength to pedal forward, make the decisions, and pull the other along...and sometimes you'll be the stoker. Either way, it's about teamwork. It's okay that sometimes one person is going to need the other more. That's just life. I've learned that most of the time things aren't 50/50. That's just not how life is. No relationship is 50/50. Love doesn't keep score. Whether it's your husband, your friend, your parents, etc. just let it go. Don't always keep track of who called who and who did or didn't do what. Just pick up and always focus on giving more. Give of yourself completely and with your whole heart. For your whole life. Our favorite pastor said years ago that a good and successful marriage has two givers. So, I'm going to give my heart out and just enjoy the ride. We are only given this very moment, nothing more, nothing less. I'm learning to live in the present and see where this journey takes us.

DW6

And, our beautiful new tandem has a name. It's called "Dreamwork." Dynamo named it. If you want to know why, check out this church sermon from the church we've recently been attending. Whether you're married or not, it's all about how it takes teamwork to make the dream work! The dream should always bigger than the team! Enjoy! Be blessed!

Dynamo, I thank you for loving me when I needed it the most. I thank you for being my rock. I thank you for being my soulmate. You make me a better person every. single. day! I can't wait to ride off into the sunset with you on Dreamwork! I love you forever and always.

So grateful for moms!

On our ride to visit my Mom and Grams on Sunday we took the top off the jeep and Charlie and I enjoyed the breeze in our hair!

Untitled

When we got to Grams, Charlie just jumped right up on the bed and shared love!

Grams on Mother's Day

After our visit we headed to the house to grill and check out the flower garden! The seeds are sprouting so slowly due to the chilly weather!

Untitled

The killdeer had made a nest right on the ground near the barn! Can you see the eggs?

Untitled

She was a very protective mom! She was making a fuss when we came over to take a pic!

Untitled

Look at her all puffed up! I've seen many a human mom get puffed up like that over their young!

Untitled

The day was so pretty. Charlie enjoyed playing frisbee and splashing around in the puddle! Messy boy!

Untitled

It was nice to relax and enjoy time together.

Untitled

I am so grateful for my parents and Dynamo's parents, who taught us unconditional love.

Untitled

There truly is no greater love than the love your mom has for her children. I'm not a mom, but it's not hard to see it in every mom's eyes!

Untitled

Thank you to both of our moms for loving us and teaching us to be loving and caring people!

Untitled

Everyday I'm so grateful to have two sets of loving parents watching over and guiding Dynamo and I. They love and support us always!

A Towel Cake

Towel Cake (7)

I attended a bridal shower over the weekend and wanted to give something fun and different, but practical at the same time!

So, I decided to make a towel cake! I had seen some similar on the internet and thought I could do it! I bought several of the bathroom and kitchen towels that the bride registered for, rolled them up (with Dynamo's help of course), and made a cake!

Towel Cake (6)

Yes, that's a whisk and spatula at the top! On the registry too!

Towel Cake (4)

What do you think?

I added the purple ribbon and dried hydrangea since I know purple is her color and hydrangeas are her flowers!

Here's one last photo of the whole thing...Sorry it's a little dark, but my light tent isn't big enough for this item!

Towel Cake

I thought it would be a little boring to just give towels, so I gave it a twist! This way I was sticking to the registry so she got what she wanted, but I got to jazz things up a bit!

What a lovely way to start out a week right? God sends us messages. All you have to do is open your eyes and look around!

Here's hoping your week is fantastic! Always look for the pot of gold!

The little mud maniac!

Charlie May 8, 2012

I just couldn't help myself! The other day when my Mom was watering the flowers there was a giant puddle calling my name!

Charlie May 8, 2012 (1)

So, I started running like a crazy man through it! Like a kid in a candy store!

Charlie May 8, 2012 (2)

I just couldn't stop myself! My parents at first tried to stop me, but then they started laughing so hard at me! Look at me...I'm a blur!

Charlie May 8, 2012 (4)

When I was done I rolled over so pleased with myself and my performance!

Charlie May 8, 2012 (5)

What a mess huh? They got me cleaned up before company arrived!

Charlie May 8, 2012 (7)

Well, they tried! I was still a little dirty and stinky! But, that didn't stop me from playing fetch!

Charlie May 8, 2012 (9)

My great Aunt Robin arrived and gave me love and smoochies!

Charlie May 8, 2012 (11)

She even brought me a toy that her cats refused to play with. Not me, it was a squeaky toy and all mine!

Charlie May 8, 2012 (10)

Oh yum!

Charlie May 8, 2012 (15)

I didn't want to put it down!

Charlie May 8, 2012 (14)

It was nice that they stopped by to visit me! My Aunt loves animals. She's got lots of her own. She stops by from time to time to see how "Charlie Chieppa" is. That's what she calls me. My full name! And, then she giggles!

Big Boy!

Charlie May 1, 2012 (1)

Here I am. I'm loved. I'm adored. I'm the center of my parents' universe.

Charlie May 1, 2012

Can't you tell?

Charlie May 1, 2012 (3)

Mom says people at work think she's talking about a real child when she's talking about me. Well, I am aren't I?!

Charlie May 1, 2012 (7)

I just wanted to let you know that I'm getting to be a big boy. Mom and Dad weighed me and I came in at 10.5 pounds! I'm a sturdy guy!

Charlie May 1, 2012 (6)

Really...I'd say that I'm just solid. Or, I'm big boned. I have a lot of bulldog in me I guess! No, the truth is that my parents didn't realize they were feeding me a little too much food. The measuring cup size was misinterpreted. Way to go, Mom! Oops! I didn't know any better and wasn't going to turn good food down, so I gobbled it up anyways!

Charlie May 1, 2012 (4)

It's ok because I don't look fat...I mean fluffy...do I? They say that when I reach 16 weeks I will be half of my real big boy size. So, I think I'm going to be between 20 and 25 pounds. It's all muscle...trust me!
