Back to work...

Here and there I've been able to do a couple of cards and other projects. We've been pretty busy playing with Charlie, so I've not been too focused on creative things. We've been having so much fun with our kid...enjoying him while he's little! You know, these are the most important times in a "kid's" life. According to our research, a 50% of a dog's personality is shaped by its owners. Therefore, we are trying very hard to work with him early on, so he will be a good grownup later. We are working hard to be good parents!

But...I did have a few minutes to work on a couple of cards.

I wanted a special thank you card that was unique, so I decided to paint my version of a camellia. No, they aren't normally purple, but my friend likes purple! And...no, it probably doesn't look like the camellias you are used to, but it's my version. The best part about art is that it can be anything you want it to be. I draw what I see to my eyes when I look at something. I do tend to simplify.

The other day I took Charlie upstairs for the first time to the craft room. I let him sniff around and inspect all of the chaos. He was really good and didn't chew anything. This room has lots of stuff in it, on the floors, on shelves, in stacks...so, he needs to learn early on what he can and cannot touch. He did great! He was a little wiggly while I made this card...

But, he was really patient for a 9 week old puppy. So, I was glad I could make my friend a birthday card this past week! Hope you have a great day!

Grungy Cardmaking

I haven't posted any creative projects in a while, so I thought I'd share a couple of cards I did recently!

After taking Dina Wakley's Art Journaling 101 class some time ago, I've really been experimenting with the messy grungy style! I really like it because there's no need to be perfect. Just throw the colors on the paper and it looks beautiful!

Here are a couple of cards in that style...

Grungy Birthday

Some free motion stitching and vintage lace make the card complete!

Hydrangeas all around

Hydrangea Card

I've been preparing a bridal shower/wedding gift for some friends who are getting married in July. The bride loves hydrangeas because they remind her of the time she spent in France. So, I dug out my hydrangea stamp and decided to make her some thank yous...because a bride can never have too many of these!

And...the background stamp is French writing!!

So, I wrapped the stack up and they're all ready to go.

Check back tomorrow to see another part of her gift!

Simply Said...thanks!

Simply Said Thanks
With a little soft suede cardstock and ink from Stampin' Up!, along with some cardboard out of my recycle bin, this card was born. I tore the top layer of the cardboard to give it a more vintage look and distressed the edges with the ink.
Simply Said Thanks
The Simply Said Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! contains this beautiful sentiment in a whimsical-like font. I used the En Francais Stamp Set and the heart-to-heart punch with some very vanilla hodgepodge hardware and twine. This card turned out lovely in its simplicity. I just wanted a little note to let our friends know how much we appreciate them.

More thank yous...

Thank you vintage floral

I needed a few thank you cards, so I got to work. I really like the rich razzleberry, crushed curry combo!

an old favorite

One of my absolute favorite stamp sets from Stampin' Up! is Wonderful Words. It is my old faithful! Here's a quick thank you card made with the Embrace Life stamp set. It looks a little shiny because you know I love glitter! This is a great card to make multiples of!
And, here's a closeup!

Happy Thursday!

Festive Shower

Two Saturdays ago Mom and I went to a bridal shower! The theme was "All the holidays"! So, here was the outside of the present...
And, the card...
And, a closeup of the card...

I just love the teal blue and red combo!! It's delicious!!!

Inside the box was an apron I made for her (it was hard to photograph...so sorry!) I'm on the hunt for an old dress form for photographing purposes and to use in my sewing...

And, I made her some thank you cards too! She loves purples so I tried to stick to that theme!
That's all for the handmade goodies inside the box! Happy Monday to you all!! Thanksgiving is almost here!!!
