I wanted to send a hello card and a birthday card last week. I think they turned out nice and vintage!





The birds are from Stampin' Up! as is the most of the paper! The others are from various places!

Sending Wedding Congrats

I wanted the card that accompanied my cousin's gift to be lovey dovey, unique, and kinda shiny! I love using hearts and my gold gel pen! Those Unibal gel pens from Stampin' Up! are awesome!!

And, I had to use some of that lovely red glitter paper! No, it's not just for Valentine's Day!

I used chocolate chip cardstock along with old olive cardstock and ink. The designer paper is from JBS Mercantile.

This was the thank you card I sent to Mr. and Mrs. C after our visit to Florida!

I used my new stamp set from Close to my Heart, some designer paper from JBS Mercantile, some baker's twine (love this stuff because you get a whole lot of it in cool colors), Whimsical Words Stamp Set, and cherry cobbler and chocolate chip classic stampin pads from Stampin' Up.

Love Birds

Ah, don't you just love Maya Mists? It's oh so shimmery! I recently got some Maya Resist and used it to write the words "Love Birds" on the page. There's a tutorial here on this great stuff! I also used a mix of JBS Mercantile and Stampin' Up products (full heart punch, elegant eggplant cardstock, melon mambo cardstock, and antique brads), along with some thrifted lace.

Snack Love

I had taken this pic of Dynamo's snack plate a while back, but didn't know what to do with it. I wanted to remember his choice of snack forever. Crazy, I know...but, I don't ever want to forget the special things he does that I love. Yes, that is a pic of peanut butter and jelly on Ritz crackers. I had never seen this done before and thought it was neat. You learn something new everyday! It also made a pretty pic. Apparently, Mrs. C. eats them this way too. Who would've thought to do that? To be honest...it's a pretty good snack!

I had bought a book a while back with 52 scrap challenges and one was to scrap your favorite food. So, a lightbulb went off and I pulled out the pic and got to work! Most of the items I used are from JBS Mercantile. I used some lace I thrifted and the Stampin' Up! Heart to Heart Punch.

One Sunday Afternoon

I just loved these three photos of my Dynamo. I wanted to try to preserve them in a special way. I thought they reminded me of a filmstrip/sequential shoot! I wanted them to all be on the same page. So, here was the result...

No, he wasn't posing. I don't think he even knew I took the top and bottom photos. Those are often the best ones...when no one knows you're taking them...

I did add journaling...just a little...to the page. I struggle with my handwriting. I just don't like it very much. Anyone else have that problem?

"Sunday" is from a set of old flashcards. The tree on the background paper was a page from an old children's book. I really do love old stuff!

I used a lego that my co-worker gave me (she snuck it from her son when he wasn't looking) to make the white and yellow dots on the page.

Banner Design

Here's another scrapbook page I completed recently. I love the banners that you can create with your sewing machine and triangles from Sassafrass courtesy of JBS Mercantile!

Notice the background scenery of grass, mountains, and a stoplight. That, along with the "traffic lights" excerpt is from an old children's book I had in my stash!

Again, I love using the sewing machine to add texture to my project.

Scrappin' around

I've decided to try to scrap the real 12 x 12 size like all the rest of the world does. Here is my first attempt...

It's so fun to play with Maya Mists! I also used acrylic paints to create the background colors to match the colors in our shirts! Some of the embellishments are from JBS Mercantile, but the Play Date Designer paper and Kraft cardstock (as the background) are from Stampin' Up!

Welcome home

This is a "welcome to your new home" card for a co-worker's daughter! She recently got her first apartment and I wanted to celebrate the occasion. Along with the card I put together a rubbermaid box of goodies that I thought she might could use. I remember when I first went away and needed something like a screwdriver or hammer or thermometer or bandaids or tape or vaporub, etc. I included in the box lots of random items that you wouldn't think to buy until you need them. I thought it might be a good idea.

This was a wedding card that I made at the request of my mom for a wedding last weekend. I thought it turned out pretty good. The bird, music designer paper, "LOVE" sticky letters, and vintage wallpaper are from JBS Mercantile. The pink piroutte textured cardstock, very vanilla cardstock, early espresso cardstock, and sentiment (Occasional Quotes Hostess Set) are from Stampin' Up! Bingo card and gold thread are thrifted items.

Another birthday or two...

One of my mom's best friends, Pauline (AKA "Mole"), had a birthday this week! Here was the card I made for her! We're celebrating early next week. She requested a chocolate cake of some sort for dessert! Humm....what could I make? I'll let you know what I decided on next week!

For the card above I used Stampin' Up!'s Playdate Designers Series paper, old olive cardstock, marina mist cardstock, and melon mambo classic ink. Cancelled check and other DSP from JBS Mercantile. Vintage Bingo card and button were found items. Birthday sentiment is from Close to My Heart.

My college roommate recently had a birthday too! Here was the card I made for her!

See that beautiful butterfly? Well, that's a Melody Ross embellishment! I was so excited to discover those.

Play date with Dr. Seuss and more birthdays!

More vintage Dr. Seuss for another birthday! September is a big birthday month, so you'll see lots of birthday cards! I also used Stampin' Up's Playdate Designer Series paper, real red cardstock, old olive cardstock, and the scallop circle punch! The milk cap and tiny type letters are from JBS Mercantile. This card was for my cousin's birthday.

We're all turning 30!

This year is a big year for many of my classmates/friends and myself. We're all turning 30! I'm at the tail end of the group, being the December baby (back when they let you start school at a super early age 4). It's so hard to believe that time flies just that fast! One of my very hilarious friends...we were in school together from elementary up through high school...had a birthday recently! She can always crack a joke! Whenever you're around her your stomach hurts because she makes you laugh constantly! She's always been that way, and I love that about her. I don't see her very much, but I wanted to send her a super funny card to celebrate her big day! So, I pulled out the vintage Dr. Seuss books and Bingo cards. I ripped out an image I thought appropriate! Here was the result...

Notice the kids' mouths are wide open looking at the big 30! Here's a closeup....

The sentiments, tiny type letters, and "30" chipboard numbers are from JBS Mercantile. The word "birthday" is from Stampin' Up!'s Birthday's Count stamp set. I also used Not Quite Navy Classic ink and brocade blue cardstock from SU.

a recipe book

So, are you one of those people that tears the recipes from the magazines and sticks them in the cabinet vowing to try them one day but never do? Well, I'm one of those people. I always seem to save the really yummy looking recipes that are super bad for you that you would only make for a special occasion. I stack them in the cabinet with no order at all. It's very frustrating to me, but they are out of sight and the tackiness isn't visible to us or visitors. I want to keep them, but I really shouldn't because I know I'll never get to them. I have high hopes.

Well, I made a step in the right direction the other day. I..threw.them.away.(well, I'll confess...most of them, not all) YIKES! It took all I had, but I did it. I've still got tons of cookbooks. We aren't going to address that issue here. That, my friends, is for another day. I have now committed myself to making myself a favorite recipe flip book. It will have only my favorites in it and the other magazine clippings will have to go. They will be the tried and true Dynamo likes them recipes. The others don't make the cut. The only one that will stay without Dynamo's full support will be my Ga Ga's brownie recipe. When I didn't win a ribbon at the County Fair (which I was totally convinced I would) I was brought to the realization that maybe they aren't really as good as I think they are. But, they are my Ga Ga's recipe and that makes them good to me.

The best part is that the outside "cover" is made of heavyweight chipboard, so it stands up on the counter like those sandwichboard signs.

I did go a little crazy with the distressing inks, but that's ok 'cause it's my book! I finally got to use my Stampin' Up! From the Kitchen of stamp set and did you notice the new antique brads from SU too? The tab punch, striped red grosgrain ribbon, and orange ric rack were helpers too! Also, I used some JBS Mercantile papers and chipboard letter "R".
