Amanda Adams Photography's Specialty Soaps

We were very excited when Amanda of Amanda Adams Photography contacted us about doing a new line of specialty soaps for her brand. It's always such a compliment when customers return for more soaps! And, we were honored to be asked.

Amanda and I corresponded about her style and slightly redesigned brand/logo with the focus being on her gold colors. I just love the anchor!

I always take time to visit client's websites, blogs, and facebook pages to get a feel for their personality and business style before making suggestions. And, after doing so I felt that our soft oatmeal, milk, & honey soap with natural gold colored soap curls, oats, and yellow Brazilian clay was a great compliment to her brand and client packaging. Of course, we added some gold mica dust to the top of the bar too! Because shiny things are always extra pretty!

Oatmeal, Milk, & Honey - A Favorite!

The favorite...



Many people who have never tried my soaps ask which one to start out with. I always recommend the Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey or the Lavender Oatmeal.



The reason I suggest these bars is because they are mild in fragrance while being excellent for moisturizing! Oatmeal is excellent! This bar has ground oats that provide extra good stuff for your skin!



Most of my soaps are made using the same basic recipe of oils. What changes are the fragrances and the extras. The oats are a favorite of mine to use. I have very dry skin so this recipe was formulated to help those of us with dry skin. You will find that you most likely won't need to use lotion when using my soaps. Sometimes, though, in the winter, it's just too much for just the soap to handle.

In the works will be a new lotion that you can put on at nighttime in addition to using the soap to soften and moisturize your skin! So, if you're new to my soaps the Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey bar is the one for you to try!



Never be afraid to message me if you have questions about anything. Oftentimes we can discuss your particular issues and I can recommend a bar to fit your needs. I use lots of clays and activated charcoal in my soaps as well as pumpkin (my new favorite). I find that those extras really do help remove impurities and make your skin softer and smoother.

So, I've always got plenty of Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey on hand because it's just the go-to bar!

Oatmeal...For more than just eating...

Another one of my latest batches is Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey!

This is a staple in my inventory as it is one of the most gentle and moisturizing bars I make.

All of the bars I make are gentle, but there's just something about this bar that's extra special!



Moms choose this bar for their babies! It's just so soft and creamy and screams "I'm gentle!"

I use real oatmeal in my bars! It is such a valuable part of this bar providing extra moisturizing qualities!

Oatmeal is soothing and will soften your skin. The ground oats (yes, I grind them myself) inside this bar act as exfoliators removing the dead skin and even often eliminating your itchy spots!

If you've never tried one of my soaps before, this is the one I'd recommend. Stop by and pick one up at the Market this Saturday!

On the curing rack

We have lavender oatmeal curing right now...



It smells soooo good!

Back to soap making and Friday for the Arts!

Over the past couple of days, I was able to whip up a couple more batches of soap. The first was this new batch of oatmeal, milk, and honey. Yum!!!!



It really does smell good. One of my all-time favorites!!!!



And....guess what?? I've been invited to participate in Friday for the Arts on Friday, May 11, in Petersburg at Kimberly Ann's. I will be set up in her store on Sycamore Street as a featured artist with my soaps!!! I am thrilled at this invitation. More as time gets near!!!

more oatmeal, milk, and honey goodness

A classic. A favorite.



This scent is really popular. The last time I made it I just put the oats on top. This time I added soap curls and soap sticks. I really like the look of the curls.



I put crushed oats in the mix as well. I love the color they give the soap. Plus, gotta have a little exfoliation too.



My goal was to make this look as good as it smells. Yummy!

Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey Soap

Dynamo made me another beautiful soap mold. This time much larger! I was so excited to try it out that I decided to make some oatmeal, milk, and honey soap the other evening! It turned out just lovely.



The mold he made was the perfect size for my "standard batch" recipe size. I think we've got it down pat. Each batch makes about 80 ounces of soap. I get about 20 bars or so from each batch. They are a little bigger than the soap bars you buy in the stores, and in my opinion, better!

So, here is the loaf cut into 1 inch bars!



The oatmeal is ground up and mixed in during the process to provide gentle exfoliation. I also sprinkled some on top because it looks pretty!

After all this soap making, our house sure smells really nice! Now, the batches of soap must cure anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks. Our upstairs bathroom is the official curing room! As of right now, we've made lavender, oatmeal/milk/honey, orange crush, feliz navidad, and peppermint/tea tree soaps. I'm planning to work on a dog shampoo bar next. We want Lexi to smell pretty! The recipe I'm working on is one that humans can use as well. It will be a good bar to use before biking/hiking/camping because it will have good bug repellent properties!
